This month our focus is on helping your skin survive the seasonal changes. We are leaving the warmth and invitation of summer heading into the beauty and coolness of fall.
I have always heard so much talk of cooler weather being kinder to the skin-this is not necessarily true. Cooler temps let us sweat less which takes away one of our built in deoxidizers, but also leads to dehydration of the skin. I know we have all heard of being "thick skinned" but it isn't really a fact. Skin is actually really thin, hence the drying out and wrinkling. Some things to remember so the skin you are in remains strong and youthful looking:
1. Hydration-both inside and out. There are many ways to drink plenty of water these days-so many flavors it can be daunting going into the convenience store to buy a water. If you look it up online there is enough information to cause a migraine. Try to find something not carbonated or full of sugar-you are heading in the right direction.
2. Humidifiers and air purifiers are amazing. The cooler air dries out nasal passages as well as skin. Embrace the changes in air, breathe deep if you are in an area where that is possible. Step out once a day and be thankful for the beauty around you. If it is a city street or a country road if you look for beauty it is there.
3. Cover yourself adequately- the more exposed you are the more detrimental the elements are. I am a nature lover also but as I have aged I have tried to remember to be nice to myself. Personally, I am a sun baby, but I recognize the importance of seasonal changes. The seasons impact your mind and emotions also, remember to be thankful for the skin you are in, treat yourself to scent diffusers and plenty of lotions.
Pamper yourself- YOU deserve it.
Thank you until next time,
Deb
